Drucker’s partnership with Nuo Therapeutics is reducing the amount of amputations by healing chronic wounds more effectively.

Problem

Chronic wounds affect millions of patients worldwide, and despite increased spending in wound care, the amputation rate has remained unchanged over the past decade. There is a critical need for effective therapies that can accelerate healing and reduce the rate of amputations.

Solution

Drucker Diagnostics partnered with Nuo Therapeutics to design a custom centrifuge for the Aurix System. This centrifuge is capable of executing a quick 1-minute spin to separate platelets from a patient’s blood sample. These platelets are then mixed with additives from the Aurix Reagent Kit to create a biodynamic gel that promotes healing.

Outcome

The Aurix System has shown remarkable clinical results, including a 50% reduction in wound size within two weeks and a reduction for the need for limb amputations – with a healing rate of 81% in clinical studies.
